thanks for the pictures, and see that all the males do have a steeper forehead than the females. Did you vent all of these fish for their gender or you just know by looking at them? I have a feeling mine are both males as both have very aggressive behavior toward each other. Had to separate them as the bigger one was beating on the smaller one, but now the smaller one has recovered and always wants to fight challenge the big one behind the divider and it turns whiter when its angry and wants to fight...

I have always sexed by the profile and behaviour of the fish, normally when they get above 5 to 6 inch. Looks like you have a male and female. Ime biffas can be hard work to get a compatible pair, normally you need 7 or more juvis and let a pair form naturally, just adding a male and female together never works. There picky about partners.

Here's some updated pics of the 2, I believe they both grew a little bit. So I guess then big one male small one female? First 3 pics female last 2 male? They were sold to me both as being males but wasn't so sure. The small one does look similar to your smallest female in your last picture in terms of size and shape of its head profile. Also the small one has deeper colors and it has a bit of a sparkly shiny body. I was thinking it could be a male as its still young and not fully developed yet no head bump yet, but even your smallest male already has a steeper profile and a slight bump?

Did any of your bifas in your pics ever pair off, laid eggs and have a successful spawn? Did they all get along for the most part? Your bifas all look very beautiful too.

Thanks, the big pair spawned once every couple of years, wasn't a common occurrence. The smaller once were quite prolific, had to separate them into pairs due to spawning aggression, I think that was the last pic of them all together.

Oh wow that's unusual I thought usually once they pair off they will always spawn but I guess I'm wrong. Do you still have them all? Too bad they all had to be separated though they all looked nice together.

I guess to conclude this then my big one is a male and the smaller darker fish is a female then due to their head profile shape?

I think you have a male and female, no don't have them anymore. The big pair wasn't a compatible pair, the male just about tolarated the female in the tank with him that's about it.

I guess thats better than him trying to harm her. So i guess none of them really paired off even though you had a large group of them? and 1 more question so for the small one i got if it was a male, i think its 5-6 inches now? would he already have a nuchal hump at that size or starting to develop or no? I'm pretty sure you are right its likely a female and the large one male. Thanks.

I see you also have one in your profile picture? is that one a male or a female? do you still have that one?
