Hello.

It's the first time I post anything in this forum, but I have some questions. I have a pair of Paratheraps sp. catemaco and 2 other males, from Don Conkel, here are some photos of them:

The couple (female is white and the male is pink) with fry born in 30 October 2011:

The same fry that are on the first photos are like this:

Now my question is if this Paratheraps sp. catemaco are really sp. catemaco or Paratheraps fenestratus catemaco?
My doubts begin when the fry still didn't change the color, it's normal?

Thanks for your help.

Great fish,i breed them about a year ago(from Don Conkel)actually just recently sold the pair, bred for me atleast once a month.
Your pair looks similar to mine old pair. Heres a few shots of my pair.DSC01220.JPGDSC01456.JPGDSC01495.JPG

Buddaha1200, how where your pair's fry? The biggest one of my pair's fry is about 5 cm, but doesn't show much color, at what size they start to show some color? I mean the white or pink color.
And all of your pair's fry where white or pink? I'm just wondering if some of the fry will have normal fenestratus color?

Sorry for all the questions ;)

Here's a pair that I've had for about 1 1/2 years. They first spawned shortly after I obtained them when they were really small (M-4", F-<3") and the female had not yet changed color. The male was already white when I got them.

Eventually the female started to change to this over the next couple of months

Here's a pic of the pair I took a couple of days ago. the male is a little over 8" and the female about 5".

Any young that I raised from this pair did not show color change until they reached at least 1.5-2". Some turned early, others much later. The largest always changed color first. I have a hunch the males turn first. But they all turned eventually.

all my fry were white and pink, none had the normal fenestratus color.
i keep a few fry and raised them up,they looked exactly like the parents after they faded(with alittle more or less pink)
