Paratilapia Bleekeri

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
actually I never even ever came across anything about it in the hobby, other then its harder to get then polleni. I do know its overfished as a food source.

i think it's also because of destruction of their habitat and introduction of exotic species like snakehead, tilapia etc.

Yup I didnt even think of that either, I know that other tilapia is a big problem actually I think there is another tilapia that was introduce that it fights with for the same food source.

tilapia and snakehead were introduced in the madgascan waterways actually as an alternative food source for them cos of the decline in their own endemic and native fish species, which ironicaly also contributed to the extinction and endangerment of their native fish..

Ya, I've read these points on ACA in the Conservation section. I've had a polleni since May, it's about 5 inches now, but doesn't color up much yet. Thinking of getting black sand to aid in that, and a dark background. Maybe it's a female. . . .in with a 5" Turquoise Sev, 6" BGK, and some cories. Has a huge mouth, but isn't as aggressive as I thought it would be when I put it with the others--the severum rules!
Looking forward to the polleni getting bigger, showing black, although the spots are a really interestng addition to the tank. Nice to keep the species, would like to eventually breed to perpetuate . . .

What is the difference in appearance between the Paratilapia Bleekeri and the polleni or are they the same fish?
