State of chaos
I know that Im gonna get a few " Their house Their rules."
Well, there are people on MFK my age/younger with hundreds of gallons of water IN THEIR ROOMS. I have 11 + fry. Soon I will set up another 5.5 for male Mosquitofish so that they dont spawn, and hope to upgrade White Clouds to a 10, especially since I soon will add an Otocinclus, but then I will still only have 22 gallons. Anyone else think that i should have more freedom? I mean seriously... it's ridiculous. Fishkeeping is what I do. They should want me to do what Im good at and enjoy! I mean, I think im decent at it, i could EASILY make room in my bedroom for a few big tanks but they still wont let me, nor will they even give me a straight answer past "I dont wanna talk about it right now." I cant even walk to the LFS and come home with a small invert or fish.
UGHH im so pissed:irked::irked:

Ahhh same here. And I am 17. I have a 33 gallon in my basement, which is like the party room, so I know my fish will always be spooked. I was talking about putting a 100 gallon in my room, and my parents laughed at me. Said it would be too heavy.

wow aparently im good at persuasion i should be a lawer. i convinced my parents to let me buy/ buy me a ton of stuff. i got a 55 for christmas 2 years ago and theyre letting me buy a sand boa this week (ps im 15 almost 16)

lol. i asked to use the old aero kitty pool as an indoor pond for my Mosquitofish, but they laughed at me too.
BTW im 13

Well i don't know how old you are but I'm 17 and its seems that i don't get much freedom, but when i think about it and i kinda do.

Ok you want freedom right, but if you could get that dream tank could you pay for EVERYTHING, and pay for the food and stuff, most parenst know that they are the ones that buy all the stuff and food and in some cases clean.Ya you have 5g but you got to prove yourself with a bigger tank.

I dont have a job at the momnet but i did and my mom knows im responsible, so when i said i wanted to get a 55g that was offred to me for free i said(nicely), mom im getting a 55g is that okay with you?, im paying for everything, and i got the money(showed her TONS of bills) and i said ill be putting it in the living room and im going to put really nice fish in it and have it planted and custom backround.KNow how nice does that sound? She of coarse played the college money card but well im paying for it and shes not losing anything so now im getting it, she agreed!

Most people are rude and mean to their paresnts or even not responsible, of coarse then they would say no, but if your nice and got nice cash and planning on setting something up nice then they just might let you.I still dont get alot of freedom but i get quite a bit. i told her i wanted a 75g in living room and 55g in my room, she laughed in my face, i was dicuraged but im still trying to get the cash for it and when i do im gonna try and convince her.

In the end my mom knows i pay for my pets and i have money, and i have worked before and i am responsible so she can trust me, you just have to prove yourself, with my dad tho this would NEVER happen but he doesn't live with me so I'm good.

im 15 and have 5 tanks...125,10,20,55,10

Yea, All I have to prove to them is that the 100g wont fall through the floor when I fill it up. I have a job, and always end up with a few hundred extra every pay check, so the money is not an issue. They are just worried about the house getting damaged.. errmm...

Reason I want the 100g, is because I just bought a Emperor ID Shark, and I need somewhere he can call home. 33g will be god for like 5 months before i have to sell him back to my LFS.

well 100ga of water= close to if not over 800lbs plus the tank, stand, and equipment thats a lot of weight. but if you cant get it in your room, ask for the basement/garage. i did and they said yes because no one ever goes down there and they wont have to see the fish
ive got a 55, 30, 40breeder, 10, 2 20 longs (herp cages), im getting another 20 with my sand boa, and my dad and i both agreed we want a pond somewhere so im gonna build it this summer for my monsters.

yeah...thats your bad....

any ways. hang in there dude. im 13 as well but i got a fish room that an RTC and TSN can call home, not to mention 3 pacu and 3 aros. i dont personally get why parents dont give kids the chance to prove themselves. what i did, is i convinced my mom, then setup my first 29, while dad was at the football game. and i setup another 29 by myself and let my mom know after words. dad never noticed the second one until almost 3 weeks later. then, christmas came, and dad saw the growth rates of my oscars. chritmas that year came a 55 gallon. then, ten gallons got setup. then, everything in the 55 got sold, and the fish from the 29s were distrubeted in 10s and 55. i then went on the search for more tanks. and found a oceanic complete setup for 25$. that went were the 29s are. a little advice. CRAIGSLIST IS UR FRIEND. eventually the bed was turned, ten was taken down and i had more space. i went to a garage sale and got a 40 breeder for 5$. then traded my mom for the 55 the turtles were in. it went in the new space. and that was it for quite a while. until i realised i have an un finished basement that has plumbing.:naughty:was the only thing running through my head. then i went to my first auction and bought supplies and another 55 gallon for 37$. so, after that i got permission to have the basement. i started putting all my tanks down their, starting with setting up the 29, that started it all. after a while a friend of mine gave me her turtle. she also gave me the tank, which turned out to be a 110 gallon complete setup. xP3 and everything. paid good money, and made everything look nice. found another good score on craigslist. it eventually starts to accumilate. then, the next thing i know, its christmas again. this year i got new boots, fishing pole, beef jerky, blue aro, jar, ornate, yellow tail piraya, and the best, a used 125 pre drilled for only a dollar a gallon.

dont give up. you can always use the "think what else i could do with all this money":D
