Paroon Shark: Update

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Here's a picture of the fish @ the Tennessee Aquarium.

What are their tank mates there and what shape are they in? I wonder because paroons are often reported on here to be eating machines with little consideration for what is considered a prey. Kind of like blue catfish here in NA.

If I remember correctly the tank holds 177,000 gallons. It's the "River Monsters" tank. Let me think here.... There are Blue,Channel, and Flathead Catfish, Alligator Gar, HUGE stingrays from SE Asia. South American Stingrays, Arowanas-South American&Asian, Crystal Eye/Black Devil Wyckii Catfish, TSN Catfish, Arapaima, Nile Perch, Murray Cod, big Peacock Bass of all species, Giant Gourami, Clown Knifefish, and Parroon Sharks of course. That's what I can remember off the top of my head. Yes....They love feeding time. They don't seem to bother any other fish. Just swimming laps constantly. Nice. Thanks. So this suggests that, given enough space, the paroons leave the tank mates alone.

Here's a another update of my paroon shark!
He's pushing around 9 inches now
Pounding shrimp, massivore, and talipia.
He's currently by himself.
Here's some photos
Enjoy!

The streamer on the dorsal fin is really nice.

And now juss today I tried putting a small school of fish in there! 6 rasboras! So far it's good! They are about 3 inches so I wonder how long they will last hopefully they will make it. The paroon doesn't look aggressive he juss does his own thing and they juss swim in a school.

I don't think they will last through the weekend....he'll pick them off one by one.
