Paroon Shark: Update

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It may be oodinium or ich or something else. Hard to say. Salt a temp is a good, soft start.

But without good photos AND without water parameters measured by a reliable liquid test kit (most use the one linked by Chicxulub; no one recommends fresh sticks, not to mention the old ones - these are crude, kind of yes/no tests), it is hard to do anything sensible.

Things like this do not occur for no reason. The paroon is stressed by something. Usual culprits are toxins (ammonia and nitrite first and foremost), low dissolved oxygen, too much lighting, bullying, improper diet, etc. Stress weakens fish' immune system and then an illness breaks out.

Often just good water and no stress and good diet are enough for a fish to recover. Other times, medicating is warranted. But to medicate, one has to have at least a viable guess at a possible diagnosis.

Heres another update of him, his ich/ fungus thing went away. He's all better and perfect. I just added salt and raised the temperature alittle and it worked. He's about 5-5.5 inches he's growing fast! He's just on pellets right now and he pounds them! any suggestions on what to try? thinking about maybe giving him a stricter diet. Thanks!IMG_0713.jpg
