Paroons?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yep, seriously. I've never come across one for sale or for free in the USA. The only one I had was from Toronto, Canada. Not that I looked for it specifically and neither do I go to the MFK marketplace. Looks like I should! Thanks for the tip. So you only have seen them in the MFK marketplace, right?

I did a search on paroon there and have found only one person offering a handful of 3" ones last year in Oct and Dec. I guess I should try sanitwongsei .
I don't know where I said they were for free. I said sometimes they can't give them away. $10.00 is almost a give away for this fish. These fish grow big and are predators. I read to many times here people losing good fish from getting eaten by there Paroon. Lots of people know this and don't want them. MFK is where I mostly see them for sale. I've seen them on Aquabid, ebay you might even check your local Craigslist.

I see them pretty often for sale in California and PU only too! Very frustrating. What really gets to me is that Segrest Farms, the biggest wholesaler for fish in the states, I believe, doesn't have paroon sharks but had THREE albino silver arowana?! Seriously!? Ridiculous. Somebody in Cali should be willing to ship!

I appreciate your input, bro. Yeah, $10 is pretty much free. I am constantly on Craigslist (for areas within 6 h drive one way) and check Aquabid often. Never e-bay. I got to pay better attention now I guess.

But we seem to be reaching a consensus here, more or less. They are in CA and p/u only for the most part.

Must be someone in a certain area there that knows how to get thwm through customs. I remember reading some news reports years ago about shipments of fish being confiscated and when they showed pics it was baby paroon sharks but the story said it was giant mekongs. That might likely be how that started i have talked to a lot of vendors and none seem to be willing to bring them in. Maybe its time to check again . Vendors are more willing to try if they know they have a group vs. One person wanting them.
