Parrot cichlid hybrid question

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well, congrats to my best friend, he bought his very first tank ever! A 65 gallon!

But on a more serious note, I'm extremely jealous of his set up. He setting up his tank in front of some old washer hook ups, and so he's going to have hot/cold water and a drain within inches of his tank for water changes... I want a wall drain!!! ?

“Polar blue parrots” are simply deformed short-body convicts, so the same aggression levels apply. Because almost all genera of Central American cichlids will interbreed, particularly convicts (which will breed with anything) and already-hybridized fish like blood parrots, the chance of pairing is almost guaranteed if there are mixed sexes or even two females (because two females will pair and lay eggs together).

Agree
The parrots spoken of are not a species, they are man induced mutants.
Someone noticed a mutation that looked like a marine parrot fish mouth, and capitalized on it by breeding (selecting for) similar mutations.
In some extreme cases, fins are trimmed to a certain shape, and some fish are dyed, or tattooed.
Much in the same way, the balloon and other goldfish were created.
