Just sad and kind of ironic in my eyes. A car movie made him famous and he happens to die in a car accident.

My condolences and preys go out to his family. R.I.P Paul you will be missed.

Drifting a corner is done at slower speeds, the pics seem like it was in excess of 100mph. And cars made for drifting are specifically setup for just that and have a roll cage and a roll cage would have most likely saved their lives or at least have given them a shot, a carrera gt is definitely not an ideal car to drift in. I'm still guessing a malfunction mechanically or a flat....

And regulating cars to not exceed 60mph? Wtf?

Shame that no one was able to help during the moment it crashed... I wonder what happened and how long before it went up in flames like that?

Im guessing being a super car, its probably running high octane fuel which is what caused the accelerated burn?

I am pretty sure they died on impact. Even if someone was standing there at the exact moment of the crash you could have not done anything. Plus no one had proper equipment to put out the fire. I see a lot of idiots on youtube talking crap saying these people could have helped them. These idiots are completely clueless.

There's a video someone took just when it happen. The fire looked small at the time could of been put out if someone had a extinguisher. Check the first video as you scroll down

Small fire? The car is completely engulfed in flames. And what can you put it out with? Buckets of water? Garden hose? I don't even think a single fire extinguisher can put that out. And not everyone has one of those. People are already pointing fingers and trying to shift blame. There is nothing anyone could have done to save them. They hit trees/poles at a high speed and the car is split in half. And I am pretty sure the fire started almost immediately. Doesn't matter if the fire was put out, these guys died on impact.

hahaha, i feel so much better now.

about his daughter, i read that the "party" or charity event they were at heard the accident too. can you imagine what she's thinking as they hear the commotion?

I don't know about that. I can't even believe a lot the stories floating around. One news source even said Rodas' 8 year old son ran to the scene and tried too pull his dad out of the car. With all the pics and videos I highly doubt this happened. The news always tries to sensationalize stories and make up heroes in tragic situations. Another news source even said they might have been racing with another car. Why can't people just accept that sometimes there are accidents and there are no heroes and no one to blame for it?

The driver was Roger rodas, his long time friend in his Porsche carrera gt

RIP to both fellas. A real tragedy. Now, the real discussion:

Seat belts are mandatory. Health insurance is mandatory. Safety standards are mandatory. Insurance is mandatory. Road maximum speed travel is regulated. There are places dedicated to vehicles moving beyond the safe speed. With all this in place, why are vehicle manufacturers still able to produce cars that travel in excess of the maximum posted speed limit in North America? Sure, people will still die, but if you regulate the capabilities of the vehicle, you lessen the chances of these accidents. Will accidents still occur? Yes. But it's a step in the right direction. A GT is capable of what... 0-60 in 3ish seconds? Exiting a turn on the throttle with that much HP is asking for it. I'm a car guy myself. Owned several FD3S RX7s over 400hp and very capable of dangerous speed. I'm lucky I never turned them loose on the interstate... And to think this occurred at like 4PM and no-one else was hurt..

I think the simple reason is because if all cars were created equal ie not able to go past a certain speed...

Then rich people would have no reason to spend an extra hundred grand or whatever to buy that lambo instead of an M3, since guts wise, all cars will be the same, just the shell is different...

The news is trying to say they were only going 40 mph. I seriously doubt that was a 40 mph crash. They want everyone to believe they were going the speed limit. If that is true, how did they crash then? I don't think you can produce those figure 8 skid marks and hit trees with so much force that it splits the car in half only going 40 mph.
