pay more for wild caught?

Wild caught fish are usually more healthy but I've others usually are easierto breed in captivity. If the fish are difficult to breed I wouldn't buy them wild caught if someone breed them.

actually captive bred fish are alittle healthy and more tolerant to captive conditions.

wild caught speciemens are alittle more delicate to captive environments.

Chances of wild caught being inbred are less. Id go with wild caught. I got a wild caught Aro and he looks much better than captive bred

Actually i get all my wild caught stuff then i can get in domestic or captive bred stuff.

take cardinal tetars for example..wild caught...about 26 cents each. captive bred...1.85 each. and thats wholesale !!!

Personally, I'm a 'purest'. If i had a choice between captive bred and wild I would pick wild over the captive every single time. Main thing is availability. A lot of the fish I personally want haven't been bred in captivity yet, even though several people are trying to. Fresh, untainted blood lines are awesome for breeding fish. You have better quality, better traits, just all around better fish. Some people buy wilds and breed them with their captive bred fish to strengthen the blood lines and stuff like that. Ya know, introducing new blood. If you are breeding the fish, and you want to make a profit, havin wild caught, F0 generation fish increases your chances...;). Plus the offspring will be healthier cuz there will be no inbreeding and what. So yeah, i DO prefer wild caught and I will pay more for them...;)

depends on how much and what type of fish, now something liek a pleco, no I wouldn't, it'd be just as ugly and do the same thing, so why pay more when people pretty much give them away as it is, nopw lets say someone hada wild caught arowana of any kind, then yeah, just so I could have bragging rights lol

i really dont see any difference between wild and captive, they both healthy to me it seems.

aside from drop eye in the silver aro. but we cant confirm anything on what causes this condition. Im seeing on here lately that peopel are saying its a genetics cause, so they are drawing conclusions without concrete evidence, makes me mad when they talk about my favorite fish like that:swear:

Mmmmk bro, I'll get some captive bred fish and some wild caught of the same fish...then I'll grow them up in the same conditions, same foods...everything. Then I will compare them....the wilds will be more colorful, more robust, and just better. Almost every time.

Drop is is a little bit of everything. Genetics probably does play a large part cuz the parents are inbreed a lot of the time and no new blood is introduced, so the quality of the fish gradually deteriorates. Has to do with diet, tank conditions, a lot of things.

All wild caught fish are F0 generation cuz they are wild. Their offspring will gradually get more and more less colorful than the adult, UNLESS you do selective breeding and inbreed the fish for certain desired traits....;).
