Hi,

My Payara seems to have suddenly fallen ill and I don't know why. I feed it small Plattys but the lfs was feeding it small goldfish. Here is a pic. The payara seems to shake every now and then like something is bothering it. I think it has a parasite of some sort. There seems to be very small bumps here and there on the payara's skin. Can anyone see the problem and help me fix it? I really dont want to loose this fish.
Thanks for any help.

I would check the water, i know they are sensitive to water conditions! Mine all seem to twitch occassionally and some stop eating for a few days. Good luck, hopefully he will start eating soon! They sometimes smash against the glass and driftwood that could cause some bumps, i would add salt and do some water changes, have a powerhead in there to keep the water circulating but have areas for the payara to hide out!

How is your Payara bro! Last night i did an extra large water change and 2 of my Scomberoids were swimming at an angle with there head facing the top of the water! Like they were looking at the surface, yet they were not hunting, i was really scared they would die but this morning they all are fine! Last night my biggest red tail was opening his mouth 3 times in a row also and acting wierd he is fine also. Keep us posted on your guy, i was thinking these fish are very sensitive to water parameters.

Hi Again,

I have been doing waterchanges every 2 days and his eyes have cleared up but those bumps seem to look like small white pimples and they seen to make him itch. I've been doing the salt thing so let's hope. Is there anything else I can do? And what are the white bumps anyways? Thanks,
Mike

form your decritpion the white bimps sound like ich, id follow the ich treatment guide in the disease and health forum......... good luck

Mike post some pics bro, if its ich definetly get on it raising the water temp along with treatment. Especially if he is itching. Is he twiching against the glass and wood? Good luck my biggest finally ate a silverside after weeks of starving.

Thanks again for the replies. It's for sure not ich. His whole body is not covered with these white bumps they are just here and there. I dont know if it's a parasite???? What would you raise the temp to? Thanks for the help my brothers.
