Well if he is looking for an armatus I hope he has found one. As for mines I am 99 percent sure he is a tat. From my previous experience with my armatus this fish has a different look as well as a different swimming posture ( this one swims more towards a 45 degree angle while my old armatus had a slightly more horizontal stance ), behavior wise this fish is not as active and swims towards the bottom half of the tank while my old armatus was alot more active and swam more in the center of the tank towards the upper section. This current fish is also not as aggressive and has been totally different as far as growth rate compared to an armatus lastly.

I won't argue your fish with you, especially since the provided pics aren't the best for diagnosing it, but to my eye that strongly resembles an armatus. You can see it better than I can though, so I defer to you

Sorry I'm not good at pic taking and mines is in a 600 gallon tank which is 4 ft front to back... he was hanging out by the back wall so it was especially hard to get a shot. I am also not trying to start any arguments as well...this is just my opinion. Just would like to point out this opinion is not coming from a member who has just seen content on the internet but from a person who has experience and kept both species we are discussing. The details in appearance may seem very minute other than pics...the op can post feedback on behavior that would help. In the long run the if it is a armatus the growth rate and behavioral patterns will be the sure tell signs.
