I can't tell them apart at that size. I'm more specialized in ATF. There's a few hardcore payara guys here that could probably tell you which it is and could explain how they know to you.

looks like an armatus based on head shape. They are popping out by the hundred nowadays.

spots on the head. If there are spots, then it's an armatus.

Yes tats also have the spots at a young age. This pic looks armatus
