hi once you get them to eat pellet, any cheap protein pallet will do, with ocassional treat of fish and prawns imo

Cheap???? Bio gold is good....shrimp, mussels, krill, sliver sides any thing but feeder fish.

try aquamax its from purene its a troute feed there is a hole seires of this food but most likele they will have it at your local feed store you know where they sale horse food and stuff its high in protain like 44%-50%. the aquamax 600 is about 5mm in size. in my opinion it might be good to mabe buy a pound of to begine and see if they like it and they might not even go for it at first , do you have any other fish that feed on dry food that won't get swallowd the pbass dther fish is a good way to get finiky fish to feed, or try the using the feeders as dther getting mabe feeding respose like that from the pbass when the gold fish try to feed on the food they are going to die any ways at least you will be gut loding the gold fish for your pbass. well good luck! and let me know how it goes.

Mine smashes Hikari Food Sticks!!! I think something with the shape make them hold on...they usually spit out the round pellets from time to time...gl bro...i gotta ween them off the feeders!!! maybe try freeze dried krill first!

i use hikari food sticks and cichlid gold mixed together, they love them and awesome for colour.. i also feed m/shrimp and whitebait every now and then.

damm every thread i go into you guys and everyone else already have it covered... one of too things i am either getting to slow with my old age ( heheh i'm not old lol) or i'm not needed here anymore ;)

lol your always needed bro, i only know what i know thanks to you and the rest of the C.R.E.A.M.

now for my 3 sense... i like hikira gold as a pellet choice but have heard some great things about omega one but can't vouch for it because i have never used it. as for other things you could feed your cichla that is a bit easier on the pocket; have you tried frozen market krill, frozen krill, vitamin enhanced freez dried krill, frozen silversides?

ok.. you guys know i'm gonna add my 2 cents..

i don't like pellets for 2 reasons. come guys sing along.. you know the words..
1. you have NO control over the ingredients
2. fish, most specifically, peacock bass, are CARNIVORES, they eat MEAT, other fish, worms, creatures that fall into the water, bugs.. there is precious little "meat" in pellets and it's been cooked and processed with all kinds of things these fish aren't supposed to eat, and can't digest normally.

so.. while i do not feed live feeders intentionally (we've had a few peacock bass eat tankmates over the years). I do feed them meat, market shrimp, catfish nuggets, chicken breast chunks, krill, smelt, turkey leg meat, heart (turkey, chicken, beef and emu), salmon (rarely because it fouls the water), tuna (rarely for the same reason). And every once in awhile, i find a new and interesting lean meat to drop into a peacock bass tank to see what they think.

the point is, peacock bass eat meat, so feed em meat. raw meat, not cooked, and NOT freeze dried.

sorry i'm such a party pooper guys..
