PBass Pics as well as seeking advice...

Okay, so I'm very new to PBass and I'm not sure what you mean by OCELL? As for the plant it is a fake plant that is weighed down by the sand. I was initially thinking about growing live plants in the tank and really making it green all the way around. Due to all the comments it doesn't appear that this would work.

I do have one question that is basic I would believe. How often should I feed these guys? I didn't realize that they wouldn't eat regular brine shrimp or blood worms. I have about 30 feeders at home and last night they ate about 10 feeders. That happened right before the pictures were taken.

Please advise me on the feeding...

Thanks,JP

ocell meaning ocellaris (which is one of the most common types in the fishkeeping hobby)

i have temensis pbass that i have eating froven food, you may eventually want to convert you're pbass off of live food (live food isnt always the healthiest for most fish) there is a sticky in the cichla (pbass section) on converting pbass off of live foods

have fun with your pbass.

Yep, I have read the sticky on converting I just think that mine are still a bit nervous in their new surrounding and therefore they don't actually come to the top of the water for food yet.

Once the fish hit the water they are immediately attacked but they are still very hesitant to just come up to the top of the tank.

Hopefully it is just a matter of time and I'll have them eating frozen soon...I do have 2 questions:
1. How do I determine what type of PBass I have?
2. What frozen foods are you feeding them?

Thanks for the help...

Thanks,
JP

I like a natural look so live plants an driftwood. I`ve also added some live floating plants and they throw a nice shadow that the bass seem to like. My monos don;t uproot my plants but my niger cat does when he goes searching for food at night, I have to make sure the plants are anchored well between pieces of driftwood.

1. well some pbass you can identify when young, but most look the same. if you have temensis pbass (like me) they have a solid black horizontal line starting from their eyes to the end of their tail. If the bass have 3 verticle black lines and a horizontal black line starting in the middle of their body and go to their tail, you may have to wait until they start showing adult colors before you can ID they. Some people on this fourm could probably ID them for you.

2. my temensis are eating frozen bloodworms, but i'm slowly getting them to take frozen krill.

YOur cichla look amazing! It is a big step into the fishkeepingworld with the PBASS! You definately want to step up the tank size to minimm 240 to ensure the PBASS will thrive for the long haul!! Sand and driftwood is the way to go! Good luck!
Also, it isn't always easy weening your cichla from feeders to frozen - but stick with it and it will work!!!

IMO,go with natural or dark gravel.
black background and a bunch of driftwood.
also the floating plants look great!

1. do they always have the red eyes?
2. IME there is no definite answer.
it really depends on when your bass get used to you and see you as the source of food.
