1. do they always have the red eyes?
2. IME there is no definite answer.
it really depends on when your bass get used to you and see you as the source of food.

channa, i think JP is asking what pbass owners are feeding their pbass, not what can be feed to them (if it was what can be feed to them, then i agree with you)

oops..
i thought he said when will the bass get used to you....my bad.:nilly:

well umm if you have no limit on cash. then look at R1 setup its crazy! amazing a little peice of the amazon right there. but umm well plants real or fake look nice. driftwood helps alot. imo substrate can be anything you like never really had a problem there.

personally i feed mine Subra krill they work fine with my fish great colors no parasite threat only better food would be pellets but mine just dont seem to notice them.. all depends on your fish i guess you could starve them but i dont want to risk anything.

but if i were you i would either stick to feeders if you want them to bulk up and grow faster or go with bloodworms to keep them at a steady rate with no chance at disease..

Your doing fine. just keep doing what your doing your cicha look great.

Ps: having Red eyes just proves there ocell's nothing wrong with that in my opinion ocells look awsome! look at SD's Ocells there stunning. and since your new to cichla i think jumping into harder to keep and expensive cichla wouldnt be you best choice... You must first learn to walk then too run. going from ocell's to intermedia or something would be like saying i cant ride a bike so ima go fly a airplane. lol!

Hey, so what's an R1 setup? I have some great driftwood pieces that I'll add but can't do that until I upsize the tank. Theyare fairly large and a little too big for a 75. I plan to upgrade in about 3 months and the worst case senario is 6 months. This way I can figure out exactly what I want to do. I'm going to add 2 more of the plants that I already have to cover up the left side of tank and provide more shelter.

Still not having any luck with these guys eating anything but feeders.

Thanks,
JP
