pbass substrate

im gona be setting up my 180 soon, and im gona stock it wit a pbass. im realy thinking about using sand, but my concerns r that the colors of the pbass would get washed out and that it would move the sand around too much. what do u guys use? any one using sand? and if not were do u get nice gravel for cheap from? im not trying to spend close to $100 on gravel from a lfs if it comes down to that

Dont use black sand with Pbass. It made mine so ugly. Use a neutral color substrate for them.

I use black gravel on my setup and it makes my peacocks look very dark and brings out their colors.

What kind of filters are you using? If your using canisters they will be full of sand.

Personally I would go bare bottom...but thats just me. I hate gravel/sand in tanks.

I'm using good ole Home Depot Quickrete all purpose pea gravel. $3 for 50# it's a neutral brown/dark brown color and looks fairly natural...
