^ In the end its what you can provide your fish with. A large tank 500g+ or a 125g. Just remember that the smaller the tank is, the fish wouldn't grow as fast nor have a long lifespan. thats just how it is.

So if i get a 100 gallon with the 18 inch depth it will be to small???

In 6-12 months yes, for the meanwhile it will work. The point I'm trying to make is don't look for it to go long term. It will not last humanely for a year and a half IMO.

Hugh's ocell is over 24" and I believe his is less than 3 years old.

Hugh got a French Guiana ocell. One of the largest out of the ocells. Brokos are second and guyanas are third.

I have raised guyanas before. 18" is what I got out of them in three years.

French guianas.... Shoot...I got one that is pushing 18" in a year.

Okay well I m going ahead and getting the 100 G... With Fx5 and 110 aquaclear full of bio media... When he out grows it out I will get him a bigger tank .. This is my favorite fish I have ever had so I am willing to go pretty far for him..

I am going to get a 65 small upgrade I know and plan out a bigger tank for the future.. Thanks so much for your help and everyone else who contributed!! I will keep you posted.
