PBASS WILL NOT EAT!!!! HELP!!!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Explain your idea of pristine water params please.

As close as I can get them...there is 0 ammonia, nitrite, nitrate...

The tank he is in currently is an established tank that gets weekly changes close to 50%.

He is in my 30 gallon hospital tank that is heavily over filtered. I have a Emperor 400 HOB attached to it.

The dude was skin and bones when I got him. I didn't realize how bad of shape he was in because I was dealing with the LFS on the FH and the Rose Queen.

I'm just sick over the condition that he is in. I've got an 11:00 hearing that I should be at the office preping for by 7:00 AM and here I friggin sit...hoping this dude will eat.

What is the temprature?

And I wouldn't count on him eating tonight. Get some sleep.

Once again...I'm going to bed. The PBass was shipped from Florida to my LFS in Arkansas. It arrived Wednesday. I picked it up on Saturday. The LFS told me that it had not eaten since she had it.

But I believe that it hadn't eaten for much longer then just since it was shipped out to the LFS.

I got a fantastic deal on my Rose Queen and FH. So I'm not out any money but I just hate to see this guy in this shape.

Thanks to those that have PM'd me and those that have posted advice. I will give an update at some point later on this guy.

The temp is a little warmer then my other tanks. It is right at 80 degrees. What would be optimal?

At least 86 degrees and when young closer to 88 is better. 80 is actually COLD for Cichla ;) Not really bad.. Just not optimal or suggested...

And young juvies are very docile. Pull the temp up to at least 86 tonght and when it levels at that or between that and 88 get some sleep ;) try feeding in the morn.

Also cooler temps mean less hunger ;)

This is just a start toward getting back to health. See what happens then go for the next round.

I would give em a full day with out feeding him then id give em the smallest rosies u can get or even guppies, let em get used to the tank a little better

Thanks for the help. I was not able to run the temp up last night. Did not see that piece of the puzzle until this morning...I am doing that now...Thanks for all of your help.

Temp is up and he is still not eating. I am absolutely sick about this fish.
