It's 100% CB Nigerian Lap. But I'm curious as to what make you guys think it's a female? I know the way to sex bichirs, but one so small and from that picture..... Care to share?

I know that males have larger fatter anal fins, my Senegal is deffinately a male but this one I'm unsure because its anal fin is long but skinny. I haven't picked it up from petland yet so I will post pics of it and the wolf when I get them acclimated. The wolf is about 4-5 inches and the poly is about 10 inches. Polys get along pretty well with each other right? I know my Senegal is very curious with any new fish that go into the tank, he already ate a baby TSN on me and this new one is bigger than him so I'm just a little nervous about how they will be together. I'm not worried about any of my others but my Senegal really runs my whole tank. Lol.

I think bichirs recognize their genus. I would say they get along well with each other.
Other fish are food. Bichirs aren't food. Most of the time.

My senegal/delhezi/ornate/endlicheri all recognize each other as the supreme sentient race. They only eat the non-bichirs.

Yup, the way to sex polys is by their anal fin, the males should have "shovel head" shape anal fins. But trying to ID one so young is premature. Laps grow to excess of 20". Wait until it is pass 10" at least IMO.

You shouldn't have to worry abt them, I had 2 7" Dels with a 18" Endi in the past and they were fine, just make sure everyone is well fed.

A little too small to be SURE of sex.
Also I wouldnt worry too much about other bichirs in the tank.
It being a CB Lap that is no where near F1, your maximum adult length is not likely to pass 16-18" and even if it gets to that length it will take a very long time.
Often CB will grow less, all depends on the quality of breed.

Ok so I just picked them both up today, and they acclimated very fast...the lap and my senegal seem to be buddies as they follow each other around and Dino, my Senegal is actually very protective of the lap. It's actually kinda cute. The wolf fish, I named Mowgli after the jungle book is establishing dominance over the polys...not very aggressive but deffinately dominating. Lol. Here's some pics of the new wolf since you guys already seen the poly...

Yea when I first put him in he was pushing my senegalus around a bit I'm assuming for dominance. Today they are all fine and happy looking. I'm not to worried about the wolf acting up just yet since he's much smaller. I have plans for him once he gets bigger and starts causing trouble....my polys will be staying in the 90 and the wolf along with my other giants will be going into my new custom tank eventually. ;-)

That mala will be toutching the 15 to 20 in mark full grown amd WILL kill most everything you keep it with trust me and learn from my mistake if you are lookig for a semi comm wolf that wolnt go after everythig in the tank

What do you mean mine is different from semi community? I was unaware there are different kinds as far as temperament goes...and this one was captive bred and community raised so far and only feeding on worms, shrimp and sinking pellet food. He hasn't caused me any trouble yet, believe it or not the first day he was a bit combative with my bichir but lately he's just been hanging out in the cave and the bichir senegalus is still the most aggresive thing in the tank.
