peacock bass died :[

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
BTW it's the feeders.
At that size they should be hitting some pellets easily. If you wait too long you'll have a hell of a time getting them off the feeders.

ready to call it quits, as i have try everything. I moved them into a separate tank, added coppersafe for fluke and last one is dying.

I doubt its the pleco, Yes they can suck on the sides of fish, if they not fed well(or your just unlucky). But it doesn't sound like the symptoms of it, if it was doing that it probably would have been sucking on the dead peacock before you pulled out.

Thats a shame man. You tried all you could.
If he dies and you can stomach it see if you can check his gills.

yeah ill probably do that. The two that is remaining, did well the first day but the smaller one now seems extremely stressed and sick. He's extremely dark and seems like he's ready to go out. The bigger one is more active but still isn't eating as much as he used to. Im not stressing to much about it but it's a shame that they're gonna go out. Will start again with another batch once the LFS restock.

Will update this if a miracle does happen though.

Thanks everybody for all the suggestions and advice given.

can anybody post a video of the breathing behavior of their pbass. Im down to my last one, he's alot more active now and is eating again but i still notice he scratches him alot.

I'm bumping this to see if anyone thinks that this maybe flukes or something else.
Right now I am wondering if using tetracycline might of been a better choice to treat this.

He checked a dead pbass's gills and saw white spots and red. I know red is a good sign in the gills but too much red can be a sign of the copper sulfate burning the gills. Is the white spots possibly where a fluke or flukes detached from the gill after the bass died?

Hey vaine, whatever it is , the coppersafe did it for the larger one. He seem to be nearly 100% percent recovered. His rapid breathing stopped, back to normal now. Also haven't notice any signs of scratching in the last day or so.

That's good man. It probably was flukes I just wanted to see if anyone thought otherwise.
When you messaged me with what you saw in the gills I was still thinking flukes it's just that I was expecting you to see worms on the gills.
They say once you see the signs of flukes it's usually already too late for them to recover from them.
Remember to replace with water changes for a month. Try not to get anymore tankmates during this time also.
Good luck man and remember that stuff works good for many uses. Try some DATS!

Yeah thanks alot for all the help and what not. Truly appreciate it. I wasn't sure what to look for either when i was looking at the gills but it didn't quite looked right. My mom usually check the gills of fishes when she buys them from the supermarket and they're usually red instead of white. Ill probably be doing 25% water changes for the next 4 weeks to get the coppersafe out since i noticed everytime i dose it, my pass get pretty unhappy.

Im trying to grow some like 4-5 pbass then some dats for a community tank.
