It is but be careful with only 2, I'd suggest 3 because yOu might encounter one picking on the other. Cichla have a hierarchy and with only 2 you might run into trouble with one harassing the other. That's my 2 cents, if you only want 2 either fish may help but in my 210 my most dominant Orino ignores the silver dollars and bullies the other 2 Orino in the tank with it. I'm hoping the 2 piquiti I'm picking up tomorrow help to even things out

I had four big monos, but had to get rid of the largest because he went out of his way to bully the others. Adding more should help to spread out the aggression, but we will have to see...

Thanks. They have 5 more so I might pick up another then. I have a spotted bass I might keep with them. Do you think he looks similar enough to trick them into thinking he's one of them? Probably not I guess.

Where are you getting your Azuls from? How big?

initially when I added the silver dollars the aggression dyed down quite a bit but now they don't pay much attention to the silver dollars, as long as it doesn't get much worse I don't have any plans of moving anyone around, all of them still eat and there aren't any problems with torn fins or missing scales, but lots of gill flaring and he'll nudge the other two a lot, chase them around the tank occasionally.

As to the spotted bass, I'm assuming that's a native species? If it's in the same tank as the cichla, be careful if you decide to bump the temp up, I'm not sure if the spotted bass will take to the extremely warm temp all too well. I don't think it'd be a bad idea to pick up a third pbass, they really are better off in a school when young like that.
