Peacock Bass Spawning

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I had a Spawn of Mono on Friday aftertoon...no stick em whatsoever!...eggs everywhere..but they started in one place. Soooo......what makes eggs stick? Ive had eggs that stick..fertile and unfertile. And eggs with no sticky..fertile and unfertile. Must be quite afew variables? think I need a "Sticky Buddy" I harvested a handful of eggs for S***ts and Snickers and sure enough mostly fertile. I put them in a bucket and c clamped to the inside of the tank. Anybody wants some how bout u? (Van Halen)

gday mate,

i have heard it can be to do with the pH. what parameters are you keeping them at?

cheers

Aaaaah! Thankyou down under....Always you tap water with Monoculus, but its been a long time since I work these guys and I forgot I always used to use a ton of Brightwell Black Water Tannins. Thats prob. it. Got so rapped up in other fish .....Thanks

thats ok mate. just chuck up another post on the main cichla forum and you will prob get more opinions

cheers

Steve, congrats on a great spawn. Can you post a video of you feeding the fry? I have had some of my bass spawn but never could get them to feed.

Monster- Do you keep the big male alone with the female or only when you want them to spawn. In the pic with the male there are a number of other bass but with the female its only her? Feeding that monster male must be a real treat, I cant wait for my bass to get a ton bigger!

gday,
i can pop up another video if you like mate. thanks for the kind words fellas!

cheers

Well good news, I think!! They are at it again. Started spawning an hour ago (8:00am my time). Will measure time and record temperature until the little ones hatch. As long as they are fertile again of course.
