argh!!

i'm just relatively new to the forum and I just so happen to chance upon your thread. I said 15 pages should be enough for me to see his finished tank with the fishes by the 12th, then a bunch of congratulations in the end.

man was I wrong. hahahaha! I'm a bit disappointed but I'm more excited than anything else.

I'm loving the progress.

A few questions though
* Why are you using plastic plants? Such an awesome setup deserve real plants in my opinion.
* How's your lighting setup?
* How will waterchanges be handled (also, how long did it take to fill the tank?)
* Can we get a closeup of the substrate?

Again, awesome tank! I'm bookmarking this thread.

Ok lets see what I can answer for you
1 plastic plants are only temp. I was going to go with real plants but could not get any readily avalible that would be big enough for the fish to not uproot.
2 My lighting at this point is 2 -4 foot twin tube flouresent bulbed lights Hopefully I will also add a 260 watt 4 tube power compact with lunar lights to the mix (when I get the real plants ) and everything will be set up on timers to mimic the day and night cycles.
3 Water changes will be handeled via 2 ways I will be putting a ball valve with a hose spicut at the pump and hooking up a hose and rolling it out to the garden and just turn the valve(don't have to worry about gravel I have a under gravel jet system ).The other way would be less likely to use a bucket and a siphon or a python.To fill I have a hose spicut installed in my basment to hook up the hose and turn it on (dont have to worry about chlorine I have a well)It took approx 3-4 hours the fill the tank from dry.
4 I will take a pic of the substrate this eve when I get off work and post it for you.

usj's did not want to take a chance of having a sand storm.
