Alright sorry for falling off the map.Ive just been busy with the new edition to the family . her name is rayna and she is 6lbs 3 oz and is very healthy and got her daddys good looks:naughty: The tank is doing very well I will get some new pics up soon I promice:D.

I have sand in a 180 Malawi tank. It is fun to watch the fish pick it up and spit it.

Downsides: takes forever to do the initial washing, it might get in your filtration (never been a problem for me), it makes a mess when you have to move rocks around.. I had a sandstorm during a cleaning when I removed all rocks and lost a few fish.. Harder to vacuum (but not that hard)

The biggest downside.. you need to keep it constantly stirred to avoid it going anearobic. That's the deal breaker for me. Gravel is much more low maintenance. I plan to switch it out at some point.
