the smaller azul is still not eating. I moved him to my 150 in hopes that he'll pick up that pellets are food from the other 3 pbass. Gangster's method works and I have used it in the past, but my azul wont even touch bloodworms.
well pellet training the smaller azul went down the drain tonight. I put in half a shrimp for the tigrinus catfish and even though it was on the complete opposite side of the tank ~6feet away, the azul snatched it before it hit the ground. Never seen anything like it. After seeing HCR posts, I think ill just start feeding everyone in that tank both shrimps and pellets.
you could combine methods ive noticed with my fish if i soak the pellets in tank water along with a tiny bit of bloodworms and let them soften up then feed them one at a with the bloodworms on them they accept them a bit more readily i think texture has alot to do with it
but he will eat shrimp right stuff the shrimp with a softened pellet and see if he eats it repeat for a couple days if he takes it then add another pellet so on and so forth
yeah I was stuffing shrimp with hikari aro sticks before I tried just starving him. Pellets also make the shrimp more buoyant, so it takes longer for the piece of shrimp to hit the bottom. I think I tried 4 pellets at once a week ago and the piece of shrimp floated.
I could never get my to PB to take pellets, never. Always gave in to goldfish after a week or so. Had to starve them to take shrimp and tilapia, that took like two weeks. I was getting very worried but they finally took to the tilapia. Now I mix in some freshwater Vita Chem with the tilapia and they eat like pigs most of the time. That was when the two were like 6" now they are over 14".
