So Im venting, I work at an LFS and every single day Im bombarbed with ridiculous questions, cool no prob I like fish and Its fun to id say help ppl but really i just like to be smarter than them, Im a jerk I know. but what really gets under my skin is the friggin sleazes that everyday come in AWWW man my oscars this they so tough blah friggin blah, or we got like a 600 gallon pond thats our trade in tank oscars big cats misc crap of all sorts, and id say at least once a day I get aww man is that a piranha? I mean pacu I get especially smaller ones, but im talkin oscars chocolates flowerhorn rd's. or today for example some arrogant little bastard first off thinks that by makin very little money workin there Im supposed to follow him around the store at his very whim a fact he soon found to be false keeps tellin me to give everything feeders. We had One piranha little mind you he wanted me to give it a goldfish and didnt seem all to amused when i told him the piranha would hide from it. he said aww no if its anything like the two I had itd kill it. Sometimes it hard to refrain from randomly headbutting people. so I guess what Im saying is could someone hang out at your local LFS and well headbutt these morons I bet your lfs employee would give you free stuff I know I would. sorry dont mean to rant, but well I guess I do mean to rant, but thanks for listening.

when im shopping at the LFS i hear so many people saying how bad ass their fish are as well, which im shure you must get tired of because i hear it for 2 minutes a week and it drives me nuts! it also drives me nuts to hear some employees throw out info that is completely incorrect. luckily we all have MFK to learn about this wonderfull hobby and to vent our frustrations. i do have to say that many of the LFS employees i deal with are pretty well informed, with their and my knowledge together trips to the store are actually fun!

haha its funny that you say that theres a kid i believe about your age he calls at least once a day super nice kid absolutely love talkin to him. If Im not busy hell talk my ear off for easily a half hour.asking all kinds of questions, most of them he knows the answer to, no on second thought i think he is 12ish but i digress, its not the stupid questions that bother me actually i look forward to them, its the ignorant boobs with questions like aww man these fish eat other fishes? the kind of people who shouldnt be aloud to own a stuffed animal, and the scary thing is they almost always have a plethera of little bastard children, who go around pounding on tank fronts. now say you buy a dog from a pet store that has some sort of defect be it temperment blindness whatever that dog comes B.R.R. (breeding restrictions required) now I ask you where is the BRR on ppl? and on the note of do it again tomorrow... IM OFF! but wednesday it begins anew. oh no itll be better because one of the livestock trucks comes in so Ill have their kids grubby little hands clasping at the fish bags! well on the brightside I get to tell them to knock it off and they give me that priceless deer in the head lights look

i know exactly where your coming from, i had a lady come in the other day and tell me that she had 4 six inch koi in a 29 and when i told her that they get 3 feet long and she will have to get a bigger tank or give them up,

she said "no, that's alright, they'll fit."

and my brain stopped.(probably just logic glitch)

i told her that i couldn't sell her anything for her tank (she wanted two Placos to add to the mess) and walked away.

not really related but i thought i would just add to proving how dumb people are,
that on that same day, some guy brought in two live cockatiels in a brown paper bag,
told us he didn't want them any more and left.

somehow I just overlooked you whole post and I have to say you hit the nail right on the head, I always joke with ppl when i talk them out of one thing and into another that i dont get commission so i dont care if they buy anything. but basically it boils down to trying to keep informed and showing them the right way to do stuff. But I love going to places like petsmart and looking at the signs that say the size of fish and My favorite would have to be oscars 8" tank size 30 gal+ mainly because oscars pretty much fly out of any lfs, and we constantly have ppl calling wanting to sell us their oscars that have well exceeded the capacity of their 30 gal tank. but on the bright side every once in a great while ppl call with some cool stuff to them I have only one thing to say, the store will give you very little store credit but Ill give you little bit of cash and Ill take it home. My personal fave being a lady who brought me a show winning Managuense and blackbelt.(local show) the jag died in transit, but the blackbelt went to a buddy's and DAMN its awesome

Its not a logic glitch, when dealing with the general public, logic really ceases to exist.

Speaking of idiots here is one for ya. I work for a Hardwood flooring manufacturer and I train Lowes employees on our product. Well I went into one of the Lowes here in Texas with our products and we have a line that is Handscraped/distressed. Well the employee looks at me and looks at the handscraped and asks me why I brought them damaged product. I told him that it is not damaged, its handscraped, he looked at it again and said " that looks like sh*t". I laughed because this is the best selling hardwood floor on the market today. Even funnier is that the next morning he called my company to tell them that I brought old damaged product to the store and they were not going to sell it until I got nice smooth product in. Hmmm... I will trade you for a day in my life.
