perfect aro

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
all that has been said above is not that true about a black aro only being kept in your tank for 2-3 years

my 1st ever aro was a black and that lived for 7 years in a 6x2x2 im not saying it was perfect but it was ok so with the extra lenght you may get away with it longer

a 30 inch wide would be better

hey gonefishin.. if you really wanna do justice.. build a pond :) I started with one silver and now have four.. i really dont think a tank 200+ gallons or 300+ gallons would do justice to them.. if you have the time, space and budget and are considering a silver..try an amazon setup.. else a 300+ gallon tank with 24 inches or a lil more for them to turn around would be great.. cheers.. all the best with your aro :)

he has an 8'x2'x2' tank now...2' is 24 inches that width is not the best, but the length is good for aros...2' could work, but in the end upgrading is in his best intrest for the fish...i have had an aro that was over 24" in my 2' wide tank and it was fine, but it would be much much better off in a wider tank...i have seen a very large 6yr old silver in a 8'x2'x2' and it could swim around and turn, but the kind of turn it had to make was so tight it it would smak itself in the face with its tail every time...not the best option...
