I am new to this hobby but have been researching for a while and I was wondering some of the best options to have for 75 gallons. I have considered a RTM or a Cuban cichlid, any more cichlids I’m forgetting it what if these cichlids have great personalities. Thanks

I understand your thinking. And I would have no problems with those. But just fyi, you are about to get blasted by some of the members on here. They are going to say that is way to small. And probably list Convicts, Salvini, firemouth, etc. But my opinion is a Cuban would be fine.

Really? 75 too small for a Cuban or Texas? I thought it was big enough for an oscar! So do you have any experience with any of these fish?

Like I said. I personally wouldn't have an issue with it......... And have done it. But many will respond in disagreement. I like Texas Cichlids of those (2) choices.

Alright, thanks for the input I am seriously considering a Texas or a Cuban, could I add a pleco or is that pushing it (like a bristlenose)

Perfect, but could I also as another option keep a ebjd or a severum with two angelfish and a pleco or is that pushing it for sure?

Also I am wondering about having live plants with a Cuban or Texas cichlid, is that a bad mix?

Ebjd dont have a high life expectancy. They just dont last long on average. And severum get almost as big as Texas Cichlid and may beat up your angels. IMO...... A 75 gal is good for a single specimen tank. Do a Texas Cichlid with a Hardscape.
