Perhaps the coolest cichlid ever

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It is definitely sunfish related not cichlid, but regardless it is one of the coolest fish on the planet. I happen to do bassmaster tournament fishing(usually everyweekend) throughout the southeastern U.S.. and I am always in awe at the power and intelligence of this wonderful fish! P.S. In case you were wondering none of the bass caught in tournaments are kept they are all weighed then released right back were they came from.

do you think a 3,000 gallon aquarium filled with live bearers is still a monster tank or do you think that it needs to have larger more aggressive fish. Also what do you think is the minimum tank size to be a ''monster'' i would think that 55 gallons or above could be considered a monsterh

You should post that to a new thread. This thread was almost 4 yrs old and was about large mouth bass. ;)

Perhaps we take them for granted but Large Mouth Bass (Micropterus salmoides) are RAD! My buddy has a 3,000 gallon pond with 3 Large mouth (3-5 pounds each) and those things are monsters. When he throws gold fish or koi in there some of them don't even hit the water. The bass litteraly jump out of the water and grab them mid-air. I don't think your allowed to keep the but, they are truely monsters.

Why does that make them cool? I think people are sometimes too fascinated with watching fish eat other fish. But to each his own. I like appearance over voracity.
