This is an all call. To those of you who think you have a True perrunicthys perruno, please post your pics here. I have found a pic that appears to be a perruno, but I still cannot say for certain. The dorsal fin ray count appears to be 10 total, 1 hard, and 9 soft rays. This would put it in the Perruno range. Let me know what you guys think, and let's debate this away! Wish they had a bigger pic, but this is as good as it gets so far.

What other catfish out there look like a Perruno?

Too hard to count the rays on a vid. We need pics lol.

Count the dorsal fin rays. That's the fin on top for those not in the know. The rays are counted at the bottom of the fin where they protrude from the body. The one closest to the head is the hard fin ray, the rest are considered soft in catfish. Perruno shouldn't have more than 10 total. longibarbis will generally have 12-13 total. Hope this helps.

Here's my cat - he was labelled in the LFS as a Perruno Cat but I realised that he probably wasn't when I bought him ;)
