I'm basing my count on several different sources since they all vary. 8-10 for perruno, and 12-14 for longibarbis. If the experts cant agree how can we? lol. Let's ask for a recount.

Il have to dig out my old Catfish of the world books, sure there is a original drawing of P perruno in it. Not sure if i still have my old atlas too, il have to take a look in that, although not keen on TFH books way to many mistakes in them.:)

This one is quite different too, with the dorsal fin and adipose fin quite far apart compared too most of those pic's, this is supposed to be P perruno.:)

Hi guys,

I just got this young specimen from a LFS here in Singapore.
LFS guy told me it's a Perruno.

Any comments? Thanks...

Often confused with the rarely encountered Perrunichthys perruno. The fishes are identical in terms of colouration although P. perruno has 8 (1 hard and 7 soft) dorsal fin rays, Leiarius has 10 or 11. Also smilar to L. pictus, these two can be distinguished by L. pictus having a larger dorsal fin albeit this feature reduces with age.

Guess mine might not be perruno after all..anyone can confirm?

mates, whatever catfish that these may be...but they're quite unique.
Just wanna raise one up & see wat they grow to....:)

same here.
9 dollars right?
another member,tigrinus,also bought one.
still debating whether prruno or not.

mine was 10, as it's slightly bigger specimen. i chose the one with some markings on it's head, as it looked cuter. :D
