I thought I would start a thread to express my extreme hatred of certain things that are offered to us in the hobby to use.

My first absolute hatred is offered to the NUTRAFIN MAX line of foods. I thought I would give them a try since I sat in a presentation by a hagen rep, where he extolled the virtues of this new line of food.

I even took a picture of MY EXTREME HATRED for this product. I spend lots of time doing waterchanges to make sure my water is pristine, I do 50% on all my tanks 1 time per week and 2x50% on my tanks that are 150G and over. I also over filter all my tanks to help maintain the water quality. I also use chemi pure in all my filters and when I did the switch over I installed 3 full cases if you do the math, that is a big investment alone.

Here is the picture that makes me want to make that hagen rep drink some tank water that I squeeze from my filters since I started to used this crud.:irked:

My camera did not do the ()&(^*&%^&* storm justice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I used their aro sticks and their cichlid spir sticks. I have never had such a storm of food particulate ever in my tanks. When my fish went to eat it the stuff basically turned into baby swill and rushed out their gills as they tried in vain to eat this crud.

Don't even get me started at the mess of brownish stuff that was waiting for me when I pulled the filters apart to give them some tender love and attention.

When I get done posting this I am forwarding a link to the hagen site for them to see!!!!!!!!!!!

I HATE NUTRAFIN MAX FOODS AND WILL NOT USE THEM SO MUCH FOR THE $50 BUCKS I SPENT ON WHAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE GOOD FOOD.

email now sent to the hagen company

Im a little more than angry with Marineland for 2 of 6 heaters failing in the first 9 months (ALL 6 visi therm stealths) one failing almost instantly now my most recent one failed in 9 months nearly killing but definitely stressing 400 dollars worth of fish.

yeh that would really really burn me

ok so I had to slip a pun in

80% of the liquid chemicals I've run across over the years not only didn't do what they said but a fair share have even killed entire tanks off. Anything that promises a "quick fix" Sends me back peddeling and wanting to throw the bottle across the store.

lol TC unlike you I love my stealths! and never had a problem with them. I have had the Hagen? HoB heaters literally explode in my tanks. and another brand i honestly can't remember atm (I haven't bothered to buy again, but was considered "good" ) a fully submersible that also exploded and left glass all over my tank. The HoB i actually saw do this, and had 2 others do this before I had time to replace them. all in community tanks with small fish (so no play antics).

But I agree w/ the Nutrafin... tried it we got some samples at work. and hated the waste. and those weekend/week long feeder tablet/pellets.. Every last one of them is useless...

I have never bought a shrimp pellet from any maker that I liked as of yet.

They usually go from hard as a rock to dust in a very short amount of time.

I could write a page about what I hated about aqua clear filters. But I will not because this thread would go of the deep end very quickly.

I was gonna go down the filter route too.. but I agree w/ ya on Aquaclears. I could write a long laundry list of brands I don't like, and why just on filters alone.

I'm going to have to go with you on this. We are now have now had 3 run away heaters resulting in at least 6 dead fish including a 10" black ghost knife who was growing awesomely. Then I've had at LEAST 4 other marineland heaters that have started putting out current into the water. All these heaters went within about 8 months of each other and were no more than 15 months old. I think they are too sensitive to any power surges and must be kept on good surge protectors.

I hate Rena xp4 with a passion.. they are marketed (atleast over here) as a competitor to the FX5 and big Eheims.. I have never had one that even came close to its' comptetitors. and now you may think "but why did he buy one?" well.. it's the most widely sold filter at the LFS which means most of the swedish "craigslisters" with a deal worth doing have one..
