I'm the opposite here, makes no sense really. I used to spend money left and right on the fish don't have the money now but the rabbit might get some carrots for 89 cents if it's lucky. The rabbit if the pet to me, but I wouldn't spend alot of money on it but the fish easily. Weird.
Carrots will kill your rabbit early, very bad 4 them.

I voted for a little of both.

On the hobby side, we are collectors and we are often builders and crafters as well. A new fish for me is like a new craft project for me. If it doesn't work I have no problem trashing a new fish, ie... trade, give away, sell or euthanize if needed. I would never have done any of those things to a new puppy because it was little tough in the begining.

On the pet side, I have some big cichlids that I'm quite fond of now. If I came home and my big oscar, texas, myan, or pink tilapia was dead I would be very unhappy. I spend time with them everyday, and we interact with each other.

Having pets of any kind is a hobby.

I have three dogs, time and money is spent to meet their needs and for our mutual entertainment. While I love my dogs and would never give them up, they are a perk and therefore a hobby. We have horses, pets but still a hobby. I have about 100 fish, time and money is spent to meet their needs and for out mutual entertainment and so on.

Anybody who thinks a fish is not a pet should watch 14 year olds cry when the class "hobby" dies.

I voted for moth to because my girl wants to get more fish but i always want to build a new sump or add another filter or something along those lines.

Most here, 85% here consider it a hobby, look at the buy sell threads, who sells there pet after 2 months?

This comment is very true. However like somebody above also mentioned, I do see it as more of a hobby but I do care for my fish just as much as I do my cat or any other pet I have owned.

both. fish are great pets, but since theyre so addicting and anyone who gets fish and is smart enough to keep them alive and happy ends up getting more and more of them, theyre a hobby as well.

Both. Not a little but a lot! No doubt this is a hobby and when fish are kept for life, how can that not be a pet.

let me put it this way: it's a hobby and pet thing, but i'm not in the center on this. i'm leaning towards the hobby-only vote, but we do have a slight attachment to our fish. i don't cry when a fish dies. i would be broken up if something were to happen to my dogs or cats. i would not mourn a dead fish.

Agreed. Their fish after all.
