About the spelling thing, at least in my case, english is my second language and I honestly don't think my english is going to be as good as a native speakers. I think that I have decent spelling, and I honestly don't think i have to sit down for 4 hours a day to learn spelling so that I can participate in MFK. I'm here cause i love fish and seeing other people's fish, not to show off my spelling..
Just an idea....

Your English is GREAT.

I don't think anyone has a problem with broken English from people from other countries. I don't like the youngins that come around spitting they're "lingo" and cussing up a storm.

My personal opinion is that this is a specifically read/write arena. Try to think of a better place to IMPROVE one's written communication skills. There isn't. Why waste that opportunity? When I visit other countries and find people that love fish and WANT to improve their English, I direct them to forums. Perfect place to kill two birds with one stone. So long as members put a different country for their location (or maybe something to the effect in their signature) I KNOW forum communities are very accepting of imperfect language skills.

I recently read a post where the author repeatedly used "gust" to spell "just." That is, IMO, UNACCEPTABLE for someone who has lived in America their entire life.

You hit the nail DIRECTLY on the head.

Tis my NUMBER ONE peeve. How can you trust ANYTHING about a personal who you know has lied to you?

Example: I no longer trust my own mother. Sad, but true. I still love her but I no longer trust her with ANYTHING, spoken or otherwise.

When I clean my fish tank and some else puts way too much food in right after and makes it a mess again.

LOL

Any pet for that matter. My lizards LOVE to poo right after I change all of their sand. hahahaha

I had a friend take care of my tanks for a while and when I got back, he had been "feeding" an empty tank... :irked: it had water but no fauna... I don't understand... lol

Thanks, I get what you mean, but just like I had trouble spelling and speaking a few years back; they could be having spelling trouble. Not everyone learns spelling easily, they could find it hard but find something you find hard easy. Everyone is different. I guess, we should all try to be tolerant of others faults.

If you are going to try and sell something (whether it be a fish tank or something else) for a reasonable price (or ridiculous price)....PLEASE CLEAN IT. How many times have I passed stuff up because you couldn't pay ME what you are asking to clean it up...? Really...it better be a good deal if you aren't going to clean it first.

And on that note, if you are trying to sell something other than free or cheap (or even if you are)...post a freaking picture with the ad. Everyone has cameras on their phones, find one and post a picture so we both aren't wasting our time.

1.) Not everyone has cameras on their cell phones, Jessica. I do not. The purpose of a cell phone was designed for verbal communication when you do not have immediate access to a telephone connected by wire (e.g. - a home telephone or pay telephone). Cameras on cell phones are just materialistic devices one has to pay for to be with the "in crowd". It is also something else one has to pay for that puts more money in the pockets of a wireless telephone company when it's really not a needed utilitarian device.

2.) Something else that comes to mind . . . if you don't like the way people advertise the items they are selling on this website . . . DO NOT GO SHOPPING, that way you will not be wasting your time.

I have to disagree somewhat. Here's why: buying a phone with a camera does not put more money into the pocket of the service provider. They make money off the phone's calling plan. They actually LOSE money sometimes with phones by paying for the equipment on behalf of the user. Do you really think they pay less than FREE for the device? :screwy:

I use the heck out of my phone's camera. I thought it was INGENIOUS when they starting coming out with camera phones back in 2003. When I was stationed in Japan, I had a color capable cell phone before anyone in the US even considered it (cost). Is having color pixels "materialistic" and "nonutilitarian"? I think not.

Almost all of my friends carry a point-and-shoot camera... either in the car... or in their purse (ladies). Because guys don't normally carry purses (some do!), the camera on the phone serves GREAT purpose. My friend borrowed my camera about a year and half ago... he still hasn't returned it. lol I've relied on my phone's camera during this time. Its not the best quality but it gets the job done. Yes, this includes selling items online. It has been a HUGE difference in being able to sell something to someone several states away. Heck, I even take videos of my fish eating and breeding.

I also rely on my cell phone as my ONLY phone. Why do I need a landline? I'm hardly ever home. It serves the same purpose and I don't have to go running through the house to pick up a call, its right on my hip! The "purpose" of an invention does not LIMIT what its potential is.

Your argument is quite flawed... even while using big words. sorry.

People that fart at work.

or the public in general!

I have an uncle that just lets them out when ever/where ever they come up (down?). lol
ie: as we walked into a restaurant, he held the door open for a lady to come out, as she's walking through the door, he lets one RIP. Not a small/silent one, a RIPPING one. you know what I'm talking about. WTF does that make me???? lol
