PETA sue Seaworld for enslave the whales...

So you're saying that keeping an Orca enclosed is animal cruelty, yet keeping fish packed in a glass box where they can't swim without bumping into eachother is not? (which appears countless times on this site). What's the difference? Intelligence? Now you just gave permission to torture animals with lower intelligence, where you draw the line is up to you. If you feel the keeping Orcas is animal torture, but fish keeping is not, then you are a hypocrite. Plain and Simple. Also you say that Keeping dogs and cats is ok because they have been domesticated...Have you ever seen dogs or cats left to their own devices without human interaction for as short of a period of time as a year? They revert right back into pack behavior, or feral behavior. In this sense, keeping an Orca is exactly the same because both have wild traits that you can not breed out of them.

I wouldn't put it that way, but YES. I absolutely believe intelligence has a lot to do with it and should be a determining factor, for the reasons Davdev has already mentioned. Why is that that we make a huge deal when somebody murders a litter of puppies but I can take some bug spray and wipe out a colony of thousands of ants, and nobody will give a crap?

Thats a valid point but where does the line exist and where we cut it is our personal choice. I think its slightly similar what we do and what sea world does. People strip fry from mouth-brooding fish that protect them to profit. We keep animals in much smaller quarters than they are found in for our personal selfish enjoyment. They exhibit altered behavior due to this and we make mistakes and living creatures suffer for it.

these peta threads are always entertaining and they always last long and they always get locked.

interesting posts from both sides

Yet the whales in capitivity met their physical requirements and even show off their agility which is reflected to the wild orcas' behavoir..

Some of their physical and nutritional requirements yes. Social and other natural behaviors would be a no. For example, orcas do not breed naturally in captivity, they are artificially inseminated. Normally they live in social pods or family groups in the wild not as single individuals. Yes the orcas can do laps in a pool, just like a prisoner can do pushups and jumping jacks in a cell to keep fit but I think that quality of life counts for something.

Read the posts in the thread. Comparing the two has been described as being borderline retarded. It sounds like you're talking about the "JDM" fad of keeping fish, which I think is pathetic and cruel also.

If you are completely agaisnt Seaworld in every fashion, then you should "humanely" euthenise all your pets, and never keep another pet again, but if you do, then you are a hypocrite, and your word is meaningless.

I read the posts, you say it is borderline retarded because of intelligence...So does this give me permission to torture lower intelligence animals...? I should start with some humans....
