Petco $1 per gallon sale!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Small world!

I hope it goes above a 55 gallon :(! I'm not sure if they get specific tanks in for the promotion, but the girl said a 55 was the largest they have at the moment. I need to call around more tomorrow, but still. . . a 55 gallon for $55. . still not bad.

Still waiting for them to stock my 210, but that won't happen this year, lol... ;)

Sadly it's just the tank, no hood, no lights. Any one know the cost of a hood for a 40 gallon breeder on it's own? Or if you can even get a hood that size on it's own?

You CAN get a hood for a 40g breeder. I have a 40g breeder, purchased at Petco during one of their dollar-a-gallon sales. It was $47.00 with tax, and all I had to do was sign up for petco pals to get the discount.

I do not have a hood for mine, rather I use a big piece of clear polycarbonate lexan. Hoods are available however.

I want to get a 55g for the height it offers. I do love my 40g breeder for its width. Mine measures 36" x 18" x 17"

Here are two pics of the 40g at night. Lighting is marineland LED bubble lights.

Just came back to tell everyone to call their local Petco and ask when it starts, because for me the sale starts on Jan. 2nd, this Sunday. It's almost like a belated Christmas present: I thought I had to wait two weeks before I could get my tank, and now I know I just have to wait two days. :)

PS: I plugged the dimensions of the 40 breeder into the gallon calculator, and it comes out to almost 50 gallons... which kind of makes sense, since the regular 40 is 14" wide and 18" tall, so there's an extra 3" in height for the 40 breeder.

Love the tank Bluehighways. I'm wanting to get the Marineland LEDs as well. . just have to find them for the right price. I think I'm going to go with the 40 gallon breeder as well, but I just have to figure out how I want to cover the tank. Think you could post a picture of the top of your tank??

AHH. .. that means I'm going to need to call another one of the Petcos here to make sure it doesn't start before the one I called had said!!

I just did it and got 47.7 gallons... not bad

I would post a pic of the cover but it's so ghetto that I'd be embarassed to do so. I just use a piece of lexan that fits inside the top. If you decide to use a homemade top made of polycarbonate, it can be cut using a plywood blade on a table saw. Feed the sheet very slowly or it will crack. If you don't have or know someone who can set you up with tablesaw cutting you may have to buy a lid premade. I do recommend getting a 40g breeder, though. They're very useful and fun tanks.

Now I have a new project to work on. I got a 55g today with all the fixin's. Time to build a stand and start cycling. I bought a red LED strip for this one. It's gonna look so cool!

Haha, all good. I understand. I'll have to look into making one. Knowing me though, I'll get lazy and just end up buying one :(. Hey, I asked this in my previous thread, a bit off topic, but what is the smoothest, roundest kind of sand I can get??
