Not to pick on the OP, but I was checking your profile to see how old you were. I think a lot of the younger generation is very inconsiderate (I say that at 24 yrs old). Not everyone knows everything, just like your profile says you're putting a Rena xp5 rated at 495gph on your 125g. Not everyone knows everything and you need not be so critical. I'm not real sure why it bugs me that you were rude, other than the fact that the majority of America is "right", then likes to post about it on Facebook.

Rena makes a XP5?

You do know that the cigarettes you smoke do more harm to you then the feeder goldfish do to the pacu, don't you? Kinda ironic

Do you have any idea what it would take to breed and raise 100 1.5-2" convicts per week?

I tried convict feeders before. They are slow to raise, and very smart compared to feeder fish. Very rarely do ANY of my fish ever catch them. Most of the time the little guys will hide out in vegetation or rocks and end up stuck to my filter intake after a few weeks. Not to mention, these guys know they are in danger for that entire period before they die of what is most likely starvation. If you had a bare tank with out any decorations this could work out though.

I think it's much cheaper just to feed your fish small neons or other cheap fish (that are not cyprinids) than to raise convicts.

Yeah, they work great as feeders up to about 1/2". It takes too much tank space and too much food to get them bigger. As you said, they also get to a point that they keep from even being eaten. When I was raising them to feed to my arowana, I had two of the escapees spawn in the aro's tank :duh:

not sure if i read it or not, but the OP didnt say if he asked the custemer what size tank the pacus are in..... instead of worrying about feeders, you shoulda asked if he had a HUGE tank and by huge i dont mean those 55 gallon huge ( hah that is way small for me anyways for most fish i want! ) i mean like 400 or more gallon huge.... if not, those pacus will most likly die of being cramped then being fed feeders....

NO, that is my point, but the OP has one on his 125g supposedly. I was just trying to make the point that not everyone knows everything including himself. Dig up some of his threads and see what he keeps in his 125, then he wants to go on a soapbox about feeder fish

i got an eheim on my 112 that i got with my tank about 5 months ago and STILL dont know much about them...and i been raising fish for 9 YEARS, first time with eheim though..
