i went to pick up the albino socolofi today, which are the size of all their "small" fish, and they were selling them for like $4 more each! i was like "i am NOT paying that much for 2 small fish!" so i ended up getting 2 blue socolofi (at least i think that they are socolofi because their faces look the same as the albino ones) and 1 yellow lab (they were selling it for $5 instead of the usual $9 so i had to take advantage of that) and i think i was told that the albino could breed with the blue a while back. is this accurate?

Not sure about the albino x blue but i think that all big chain pet shops (PetSmart especially) are kinda crappy. Just my opinion some people coulda gotten some pretty nice fish from PetSmart and others, but I only buy from LFS. Unless its an emergency.
umm... yes an albino of a species can mate with a nonalbino of the same species... and most psuedos can mate with each other... I never trust Petco fish to be purebreeds... and yes a mixed cichlid will cost less than a named fish...
the albino was a mixed cichlid though! i'm pissed because of how small it was compared to the others that were being sold at that price!
they are all really small. i have them in a breeder net right now. how big should i let them get before releasing them into my tank? they are about 1/2 - 1 inch right now.
