+1 for freedom but it kinda makes sence for Australia to have those bans, there so hot almost all year round! I think Australia is the only sensable country (besides a few others) to ban these fish becuase of their ablity to actually thrive in these conditions. but still I'm on the fish keepers side I know there are responsible owners who want these fish I know how it feels I'm in Cali ...

Only the northern half of Australia maintains these temperatures.
Sydney's climate is pretty much the same as LA
Gets down to minimum 5 degrees Celsius in winter, so none of these tropical fish really have a chance in the southern half. So chances of invasion are fairly low IMO
Up north around queensland and northern territory this is a different story haha

I can understand the pain of being a keeper in Australia, but they do it to keep out diseases and from invasive species killing off natives...

Take cane toads for instance... Look at the damage they are doing...

The Cane toad was purposely introduced to kill of invasive insects that were eating crops up in Queensland. It also can not survive anywhere below Queensland as it gets too cold.
But then again they are minimizing the already small chance of invasion and or disease spread.

Northern snakeheads, koi carps, goldfish, wels catfish and few species can survive in Queensland waters. Koi was illegal for VERY good reasons since Austrialia has problems with carps.
