Petrochromis sp. 'Red Bulu'

What? I didn't know Omega One made a Marine pellet. I've only seen Super Veggie and Super Color. Interesting, is it a sinking pellet?

In the 125gal, if I am putting Tropheus and Petros, should I put a fair amount of rocks in there, or leave it bare?

I'm seriously tempted to put them in the 300gal, just don't know if I should. I've got about 30 Malawi cichlids coming as well, lol, so have to figure out where to put them too
 
Two rock piles on each end, in the 300gal or in the 125gal?

Bigger tank would be better for them yes, only problem is whichever tank they go in, the other Lake Malawi cichlids have to go in the other. I'm not sure if I can fit them all in the 125gal, but I know the Petros and Troph will fit in the 125gal. I guess I'll just have to see how large they come in.

I'm looking at F1, since these will be my first Petros and Tropheus. Preferably 1.5" to 3" for the troph, don't want to go much larger or smaller than that I think.

Thats the hard part, trying to decide which species I want. Thinking either Ikola, Pemba, or Bulu Point. I want a black species for sure, and want it to compliment the Petros. Leaning more towards Ikola actually, since they will be yellow. Although, Troph kongwe Green have definitely caught my attention, but I'm not able to find many pics of them.

Any suggestions?
 
Ikola would be an awesome combo with the bulu petros. They will be fine together. I kept petros alone and with trophs groups and never noticed any real difference. I say go for it
 
Hmm....I guess I'm gonna try putting them in the 300gal and hope for the best. Putting two medium sized rock piles of texas holey on each end, possibly one in the middle as well.

Now just need to figure out which ones. Probably only get ten to start out with, add more later if I don't kill them all.
 
Is that to keep the territories further apart? More open space doesn't bother me one bit.

Would some type of sand dweller like Xenotilapia or the like work with them?
 
The two rock piles should be enough. Skip the sand dwellers. They tend to be way to wimpy to handle troph and petros. You could go with gobies. They should be able to handle the rambunctious Trophs and Petros.
 
Meh, the gobies never really interested me, but I've never really paid them much attention either.

I'm thinking of putting my Tiger Redhook silver dollars in there as dithers, would that help?
