Hey guys, I noticed tonight my Aquatop filter has some sort of leak somewhere. I'm glad I caught it when I did.

Unfortunately, it has apparently leaked overnight and got into the edge of my stand door, and the right front corner. Is this enough to be worried about, or am I fairly safe? It's literally on these 2 spots. I thought about trying to reinforce it without screwing anything into the stand, any idea on how to do that?

I'd love to get a better stand for the tank but money won't allow that at the moment. Just want to make sure I'm covered for now based on these 2 photos. Thanks!

Do you think you are handy enough to build your own stand, because once that pressed wood gets wet it will start deteriorating slowly. The stands are built by engineers and will hold but I personally vowed to either buy a stand built of Oak or buld it myself.

Not good enough to build by myself, but I may could buy a better stand.

Would the Perfecto Majesty black oak 125 stand be better?

And how long could I expect this stand to last? I just got this thing moved and setup and now it looks like I'm gonna have to move it again. Sigh

Yes get the Majesty Black Oak stand only if its completely Oak throughout. A Oak stand will last for years probably outlast the aquarium. I feel your pain but ease your mind I was lucky my stand was also made of the same material it lasted 19 years but got nervous after noticing the ends of the trim started to separate.

The good thing for now is it seems only those 2 spots got wet and it's been holding just fine. Did a water change last night and noticed it, so it's been that way a few days and it's dry now.

I don't want to come home to a broken stand and tank with expensive discus, not to mention the floor being ruined, but geeze stands are expensive too lol

Crap, looks like marineland black oak stands are. "water resistant" particle board also.

I feel like I'm in a mess with this. My wife and buddy say let it ride, it's gonna be just fine for at least the next year now that we have the leaking filter thrown out. Me, I'm worried.

So looks like my friend and I are gonna be building a stand. He's handy lol

Sounds like a good plan. :)
