Hah I wouldnt even want to think about it. I think thats why its store policy that we cannot recieve any snake over 14 inches, apparently petsmart thinks that snakes dont grow . . . or haha only grow to the size of their home. . . lmao

sorry this might be unrelated or not but I live in st louis and went into the petsmart here just to buy some feeders (rosy red minnows and ghost shrimp)like I do everyweek for as long as I can remember for my target puffer fish. The lady that was attending the tanks scooped out the minnows then went to the ghost shrimp, scooped them out asked me what size tank I was putting them in I said does it matter they wont be there long, there feeders? She looked at me picked up her walky, gave me a seriously hateful look and paged a manager, I was puzzled. Then she told me they where not aloud to sell ghost shrimp as feeders. I argueed with hers but in the end I went home with shrimp in toe for my puffer. The manager after bickering with the tank attendant said it was fine and thats what they are for is food. The girl looked at me like she wanted to rip my head off, I have never been back there. Its crazy how much they think they need to be all in your bussiness .

Haha when something costs under a dollar (our ghost shrimp are 33cents) I just assume its a feeder. Well if you read some of the other petsmart threads some people get mad when an employee doesnt ask what size tank you have. Basically no matter what you do there is always someone who wont like it. I've just learned to live with it, but still like to argue every once in a while ;)

Haha wow.

One time... My coworker (squared man)... >_>

He sold this kid the BIGGEST oscar we had just so he could flush it down the toilet after it got done eating the rest of his fish.

Good times workin' at petsmart lol :)

Hahaha nice thats 2 against squared. Maybe next time he will think before he types!

I'm sure there are other things he has done but I decided to let it go after this one.

i can honestly say my petsmart is 100 times better than the local petco as far as price selection and info. However they are grossly mis informed about max sizes for fish and tank sizes for those fish. But as far as annoying questions being asked i can honestly say some of our selfnominated fish experts on here are just as bad. i.e I asked a simple question about a recurring ick prob. and was almost immediately asked what size tank i have and what kind of fish were in it. irrelevant. but sometimes people with limited knowledge on a subject like to showcase that ignorance. point being ?its better to keep your mouth shut and allow people to think you a fool than to open it and prove them right?

I am pretty sure that tank size could be relevant, especially if the tank is overstocked and underfiltered which could lead to a stressed fish, stress leads to a weakened immune system which can lead to <insert dramatic music> diseases and parasites such as ich.

Just my input on the situation. Plus you should know on this forum that if there is a health question you should be prepared to give that kind of info and not take it personal. ;)

im not taking it personal. however its not just for health questions its in almost every thread. people find it to be a badge of honor to flame someone for overstocking their tank. And a compromised immune system from overstocking cant GIVE a fish ick. if the problem is recurring either it was never completely eliminated or it was reintroduced.

Red font: If any flaming occurs, report the post and we will sort the issues out.

Edit: I might add that while it is possible to overstock, you simply have to make sure variables that stress the fish are either minimized or eliminated.

Purple font: That's not correct. Their immune system serves to resist pathogens entering their body system. Once they are weakened due to various factors that are stressing them, they can become very vulnerable to several diseases. In ich cases however, the parasites can reside in gill tissues until the fish weakens in which case they begin to become a mass outbreak.
