PetSmart has RTC's ??? For $3.99

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
my petsmart in my area is very good...clean tanks, nice people and good healthy fish.. i think every store is different..and alot has to do with who is running it.. as far as The RTC being there and labled cat ..i would have to blame that on the wholesaler.. if it is in the bag they just send it along..even if they realize what it is they really don't care that much.. they let the store figure it out..so if there was only one RTC this is most likely what happened. Still looking forward to seeing the new baby.... the lucky little guy!!

I think Im going to go make a trip to my Petsmart tomorrow.... lol, nice price, I paid 19.99 for mine.

Yeah I hope petsmart dosnt start carring those. I think the people at mine suck. And the other week they had this guy buying a 2.5 gallong tank for 10+ bucks, (You can go to wal mart and get a 10 gallon for 9, or the 29 starter kit for less them 100)and then all this crap he didnt need, then he asked how many fish he could have and what kinds. She said the rule is one inch per gallon, so you said you liked those cichlids, they are an inch, so you can get two! maybe even three! Poor fish, poor guy too... oh well.

i just checked the petsmart i quit from a few months ago. they got their fish today and there were no rtc. i think it may have been an accidental thing. but who knows the store in u'r area may have a different wholesaler. do you know who they are by chance? around here they go through seagrest.

At least it didn't end up in sombodys 2-3ft community tank.
What are you talkin about??!! That would be such a funny lesson for buying petsmartco fish and not supporting the real LFSs. Or if they didnt sell fast enough and began growin like an RTCs gonna do and they had to put 1 in each of the other community fish, cichlid, and fancy goldfish and koi tanks and they rapidly consume all their stock and all they have left would be those cursed RTC eating crapping slugs.

ok if you wanna do somthing about petsmart besides ranting, go to www.noclownsinacube.com a great website where you can send letters, make your own or they have premade ones, the site's all about changing situations like this!!!!!

I think I remember going into Petsmart a long time ago and they were selling South American RTC, but as I looked at them, they didn't seem right. I wasn't too familiar with them quite yet cuz they were hard to come by. I asked the guy how come they look different from the picture and he told me that the white stripe going down their body will develop over time. Then I did some research and they were trying to pass off Asian RTCss as South American RTCs. I was really annoyed that the guy gave me such a lame and obiviously ridiculous answer:screwy:

There's no petsmart around here, but we do have the equivalent with petco, and they get tsn, and limas alot, but never rtc. The most recent tsn that I have is now 5". It was in their store for 6 months, and it only grew from 1.5" to 3" in a 6 month time frame. They were feeding him flakes like all their fish! I also got my channel cats there. They were in the store for 4 months at 3" with fin and tail rot that was never treated. I made it a point to tell them every time that's what they had, but they said no their fine, that's what they look like. I'm like how many fish do you see swimming around with no fins, no tail, and no whiskers? He's like trust me that's what they look like and they'll never get over 6" in a ten gallon. I got both, and it took 3 months for the fins to grow out completely, and now the biggest is 14". I've had them about 8 months now. I can't stand that store, but believe it or not it's the best pet store in town. The other two are locally owned, and the owners are more clueless than petco ever thought about being. The one owner does water changes once per month, and her tanks smell and look nasty as hell. The other guy only gets small ornamental fish, which is cool, but not for someone like me who loves large catfish lol. He'll order rtcs for me specifically, but he says I am in the only person in the state that he trusts to raise one.

I see a ban in the distance, for large pim's in the future for the warmer states in the usa. such a shame that these larger majestic cats are being sold at disposable prices, cos thats what will happen when people realize just what that tiny little cute cat grows into in a very short time, lets just release it and buy another.:(
