Just an FYI ............. the "texas" part of this strain typically comes from H. carpintis, a species that is found in native water in the 60's (rainy season) and mid to high 70's (dry season). Keeping this fish (including flowerhorn) at higher temps such as 84-86 is a sure fire way to introduce chronic stress to your fish, and allow certain pathogens/bacteria that thrive at those higher temps, to do just that, multiply and thrive. F. columnaris aka duck lips is one such bacteria. 76-78 F is a very comfortable year round temp for red texas. That's the same temp that I raised my FH at as well.
