Yeah we all have heard our share of horror stories of petsmart and petco selling things to dumb people, and being a rip off, sick fish and so on and so on. So when I was in petsmart tonight I had to take a pic of this rip off. I mean I guess if someones dumb to buy it than thats how they make money. Anyway, this is a 60-75 (no bigger) tank comes with your huge thing of salt and cheapo deco. This tank doesnt include heater btw (it wasnt in the tank that I saw). Oh and heres my favorite part, the stand wobbles when you touch it and is made out of cheap metal like material with one thin shelf which maybe can fit your water test strips upright. yep i just had to stand, look, and laugh at who would fork the money out for the cheapness. Annnd heres the "sad place for fish" part. Petsmart is selling bichirs.. yeah it may have been said in another thread but I had to see for myself. There were two in the tank. Both dead on the bottom of the tank and one had been dead for a while. They are about 2-2.5 inches and like 10-14 bucks(I was just trying to see if they ACTUALLY carried any) I have always had a soft spot for bichirs, so this really got me sad. On the way out, there was an employee talking to a customer (a 13 year old or so) trying to say what she should buy fish wise :( so sad. I no joke feel like the fish are praying for someone to save them. the bettas even are still in their shipping water, some had their fins that would be touching the surface of the water. Ok Im done ranting sorry guys had to vent. I wish there was something we could do. On the lighter side, you have to admit the tank price is pretty funny.

Hey, is that the one in San Carlos? I've been there; that petsmart is horrible...unfortunately.

I think that same setup in our petsmart is maybe $700-$800. And as for their tank and fish sizes, those are all obviously wrong. But it's important to point out that they say things like "40+ gallons." There's a "plus." Meaning they might want to sell you a smaller tank for a young fish, and then another , larger tank (plus all the accessories) for the adult. Money-making scheme, anyone?

At the local mom n pop shops around here I can get a 6x2x2.5 ft for 500-600 not drilled, and 800-900 drilled with overflow. The stand is about 600-700. Not including the hood etc. I would NEVER pay that much for a tank like that. I try not to go into petsmart around here, they just aggravate me. :nilly:

I went in to buy some .99 H. rasbora's for a school in my tank..........there were two older folks asking for 6-8 different fish. The guys asked what size tank do you have? They reply a 3 gallon. He says, that's too many fish, it's 1-2 fish per gallon........the couple looks confused but say, ok.........and proceed to pick 2 angel fish and 3 tiger barbs..........the kid says "those should be fine" ...........in a 3 gallon??? I told them to be very careful and upgrade your tank right away.........they looked at me like I needed to :chillpill: and bought the fish anyways.........those barbs will nip the angels and the 3 gallon tank will become an amonia tank soon enough......:screwy:
