Petting my Aro

i started when all mine were really small like 4". My oscars let me stroke them and one will let me grab his tail gently. Feeding them by hand and going really slow is key. Once you spook them it takes a few days for them to cool off.

Can you do this with a Jardini? I heard they are a lot more "nervous".

I have a 3ft Silver and i never had trouble approaching or touching her. Aros are pretty smart, they know who to trust. I never encouraged her , but from the time she was a baby she always use to brush my hands whenever i'm working on her tank. I guess all Aros have different comfort points, my suggestion is let ur Aro come to u.

I have a 14'' jard and he let's me pet him and play with his barbell's! HIS already bitten me while cleaning the tank!! lucky they don't have teeth like pike!

My Silver don't mind me touch him carefully...
When I have to move him from the tank I catch him with the net, and move him with my bare hands. He's calmer then than if I use the net...

And I keep him in an open pond in my livingroom now, he never jumps.
