Many Geos come from white water rivers that have higher pH than black water.
I have had Geo altifrons spawn in water with a pH of 8.00.
Same with G braziliensus and many Gymnogeophagus. As stated by those above. The best way to maintain pH is to do frequent water changes with the tap water you have, just add a dechlorinator.
