Where are you at in MO? if you age your tap water for changes in a separate container ( aka rubbermaid brute) . You will find your tap water's PH will drop over time on its own.. Rays are big waste producers so the Nitrates produced will be dropping the PH as well...

main thing is consistency...you'll find depending upon what part of MO your in you have more issues with GH levels and nitrates from the tap if you ever think about a breeding program.:nilly:

I live just out side the Springfield MO area.. Water out here is usually rt out the tap 8.0 and over the few months since I posted this thread, I have slowly raied the rays up and the levels aberage now 7.8 with condit... They are doing fine...
When I got rays a few years back, I was told they needed to be in a lower PH. so I stuck with that. and well never checked into it again.
SO I waiste alot of money in gallons of bottled water... but owell what ever was best for them Id do anyway... water changes, water cond, etc...
Ive been working for awhile on doing my own thing for them, trying to cut costs here and there and keep them happy at the same time. Since I have so many rt now, and will be getting more Im sure, I had to find ways to cut costs..
I raise my own earthworms, raise my own blackworms and my own ghost shrimp (snack for them) Then now make my own gel food for them thanks to Jeffers and some of the other guys on here who worked on a good receipe .. Still cant get one of my females to eat shrimp, but the others like it..
thanks for all the info
