Well this is not me but my Uncles tank and I was wondering if its okay to do a transfer on oscars to a different tank if the other tank has a different ph lvl. The tank with the oascars has a ph of 7.8-8 and the other tank with community fish like danios, cory cats, and dojo has a ph of 8.6-8.8.

I told him that it will be okay if you do a drip acumilation but ya what do you guys thinks??

What he wants to do is to transfer the oscars to the big tank which has the high ph and the community fish to the smaller tank.

Just acclimate.
Yep.

Just a note though, the PH isn't the issue. It's the hardness (GH) and TDS that is a cause for concern. PH shock is a myth. The real killer is osmotic shock from changing GH/TDS levels too quickly. This is why drip acclimating is important.

Thats a good idea exchanging fishes with tanks, but like said, acclimate (let the fishes slowly get used to it).

Or just buy a bunch of African Cichlids, they will love the high pH

30 minutes is usually sufficient. I usually use a 5g bucket with about 4-6" of water in it. I drip until the bucket is full, maybe a little more if I scoop water out while it's dripping.

Okay we did a transfer with 1 of the JDs and 1 common pleco and the pleco was kind of breathing hard and the JD just stayed low to the ground and when he was swimming he kept bummping nto the glass so what should I do?? Should I lower down the ph with buffers??
